Auphonix Shock Mount for Blue Yeti - Mounting Hole Size Issue
READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION IF YOUR SHOCK MOUNT DOES NOT FIT
Thank you so much for purchasing an Auphonix Shock Mount. If you've arrived at this page, it's probably because you've been disappointed to discover that your shock mount does not fit your Yeti microphone.
And to be honest, we're pretty disappointed too.
It seems that Blue have had some manufacturing issues, and as a result the mounting hole on the Yeti Mic is sometimes just a tiny fraction bigger than the 5/16" industry standard.
You can see this evidenced in these Amazon reviews of the Blue Yeti Microphone
So, if you've got one of these Blue Yeti's with the wrong sized hole, you're going to find that NO shock mount will fit properly. Some may seem to fit a little better but ultimately they can all be jiggled loose very easily.
As it turns out, there is a VERY simple solution to this problem, which one of our happy customers shared on Amazon.com. Plumber's Tape / Thread Tape / Pipe Tape...
Plumbers Tape, otherwise known as Thread Tape, Teflon Tape or Pipe Tape is a very thin (and very inexpensive) tape, which will wrap around the mounting screw on your shock mount, effectively increasing the thickness of the mounting screw, while still maintaining the actual screw thread, so you can connect your Yeti.
Here is a link to Amazon's search for Thread Tape, where you can find small rolls of this tape for only a couple of dollars. Great for any leaking faucets you have around the house too!
Here's a funny video showing how to properly put thread tape onto a screw. Fast forward to 1:53 if you want to skip the shenanigans at the start.
Of course, if you are not happy with your purchase, we will happily refund you. Just get in touch with us here and we'll make it happen.
